Job Description
Clair is looking for an Analytics Engineer to help shape how data moves, models, and is trusted inside the organization. In this hybrid role based in New York City, you will build and maintain data pipelines and dbt models that support reliable analytics and decision-making across teams.
What you’ll do
- Support Clair’s ELT pipeline by applying best practices across modeling, testing, documentation, and observability
- Develop and maintain dbt data models used for analytics and business decisions
- Ingest and model data from new source systems and incorporate it into the data warehouse
- Work with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to define metrics, data definitions, and governance standards
- Contribute to data governance, access control, and monitoring across the data stack
- Detect data quality issues and help drive root-cause resolution
- Share ideas as Clair scales its data function
- Occasionally assist the analytics team with ad-hoc or high-priority analysis
How the role connects
As an Analytics Engineer, you’ll work at the intersection of engineering and analytics. Your primary stakeholder is the analytics team, and you will partner with data analysts and data scientists to design, develop, and deliver well-modeled, cost-efficient data models for the analyses used to guide decisions at Clair.
Required experience and skills
- 3-4 years of professional experience in the data analytics field
- Strong proficiency in SQL
- 1-2 years hands-on experience modeling data with dbt in a production environment
- Familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
- Familiarity with cloud data loading tools including Fivetran, Airbyte, or Airflow
- Understanding of data modeling concepts such as dimensional modeling and Kimball
- Experience with a scripting language like Python or R
- Comfort working in, or enthusiasm for, a high-growth start-up environment
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate technical work into clear business value

- Model product data into trusted analytic reporting tables
- Support the data science team with feature pipelines
- Contribute to new data management processes that maintain the integrity of production reporting
- Help identify and optimize Snowflake computing cost bottlenecks
- Contribute to and help maintain a code style guide across dbt projects

Compensation and location
- Location: New York, NY (hybrid); expected in the office at least three days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) with additional days occasionally for client meetings
- Salary: USD 140,000 - 150,000 per year
