Applied Machine Learning Engineer

Anduril Industries is seeking an Applied Machine Learning Engineer to distill and deploy edge-optimized transformer and LLM-based AI on the Lattice OS, enhancing autonomy and mission planning. This role collaborates with multiple business lines to scope research problems and develop benchmarks that are closely tied to real-world mission needs.

Location: Washington, DC (onsite) • Salary: USD 220,000 - 292,000 per year • Education/Experience: BS required; 5+ years of relevant ML experience

Responsibilities

• Distill and fine-tune transformer architectures so they can be deployed onto edge devices or in compute-denied environments
• Propose and prototype LLM-based Agentic systems that address real-world problems, leveraging state-of-the-art techniques
• Develop and maintain mission-relevant benchmarks
• Collaborate cross-functionally with different business lines across Anduril to discover and scope new research problems

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience developing and benchmarking ML algorithms
• Experience pushing and maintaining ML algorithms in production
• Strong Python skills with experience in ML frameworks such as PyTorch
• Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
