Job Description

Join Happen Bank’s Fraud and Data Science team to transform complex data into actionable fraud strategy insights.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large, complex datasets using SQL and Python to surface fraud patterns, emerging risks, and decision-making opportunities
  • Help develop and implement fraud detection approaches, including rules and models, aligned to data analysis and business needs
  • Monitor fraud trends, loss metrics, strategy performance, and key indicators; investigate anomalies and convert results into actionable recommendations
  • Create and maintain dependable queries, dashboards, and reporting following established data and business intelligence standards
  • Assess new internal and external data sources, features, and analytical techniques for predictive value, data quality, and practical use
  • Produce repeatable monitoring processes for model and strategy performance, data accuracy, and changes in population behavior
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to map business questions to analytical methods, supporting solutions from analysis through implementation
  • Use AI-assisted tools when appropriate to accelerate exploration, coding, and documentation while validating outputs and protecting sensitive data

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in data science, fraud analytics, decision science, or a related analytical function
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, or an equivalent mix of education and experience
  • Hands-on SQL and statistical programming experience (such as Python) working with large datasets and producing reproducible analysis
  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis, data visualization, and measuring model or strategy performance
  • Ability to translate analytical findings into clear recommendations for both technical and business stakeholders
  • Takes ownership of assigned work, asks thoughtful questions, and incorporates feedback to improve quality and outcomes
  • Uses sound judgment with sensitive data and new methods, balancing speed with accuracy, explainability, and risk
  • Practical familiarity with AI tools, with the judgment to apply them to real-world analytical problems
  • Collaborates with humility, adapts to shifting priorities, and brings curiosity, integrity, and a problem-solving approach

  • Experience in fraud, credit risk, financial services, e-commerce, or other high-volume digital environments
  • Experience with Tableau or another business intelligence and visualization platform
  • Exposure to feature engineering, predictive modeling, model monitoring, or experimentation

Work Location

  • San Francisco, CA (hybrid)
  • Teams are in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
  • In-person attendance is essential for this role’s success; remote placement will not be considered
  • Local hours (PT)
  • Ideal candidate is flexible working across time zones when necessary
  • As needed travel to Happen Bank offices and/or other locations

Salary: USD 125,000 - 145,000 per year
