BI Data Analyst

DEPLOY is seeking a BI Data Analyst to design and deliver business intelligence that leadership can act on. In this onsite role in Birmingham, AL, you will build proactive, value-added data models and visualizations that support data-driven decision-making across departments.

What you’ll do

• Design and develop software-based data modeling and visualization solutions using BI tools.
• Build should-cost models for key categories using commodity indices, labor, transportation, and overheads.
• Monitor raw material and input costs (for example steel, rubber, oil) and support supplier price increase challenge logic.
• Manage the Procurement Gains Tracker, ensuring savings, cost avoidance, and rebate realization are accurately documented by wave and by category.
• Support Category Managers with strategic fact packs, including market sizing, supplier concentration, pricing benchmarks, and share of wallet.
• Perform variance analysis to identify margin leakage, supplier underperformance, or pricing gaps.
• Create executive-level dashboards and bridges for category reviews and transformation updates.
• Own end-to-end design and ongoing maintenance of BI tool data sets, data models, reports, dashboards, and visualizations used across departments.
• Design, develop, and optimize data models for the business unit and other departments.
• Meet with stakeholders to understand data needs and develop solutions, which may include BI dashboards, Python programs, or Excel/VBA reports.
• Enhance decision-making through robust, intuitive data visualizations and accurate reporting.
• Leverage transactional data from enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications to extract, transform, and model into reporting and analytics solutions.
• Coordinate incremental creation and structure of QVD files from disparate data sources.
• Determine the most effective layout and presentation of key performance metrics in self-service dashboards.
• Partner with IT to develop security standards for BI applications and usage of QVD files containing sensitive financial information.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to improve processes and documentation and recommend changes that support adoption of world class processes.
• Continuously look for opportunities to build business knowledge, increase organizational visibility, streamline processes, and drive operational efficiencies.
• Establish and implement best practices for data modeling and visualization to ensure data accuracy.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems and 3 to 5 years of related work experience (or an equivalent combination).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Advanced SQL experience with a variety of relational databases.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to propose positive business solutions.
• Reliability, organization, and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral communication, including presentation skills.
• Knowledge of database design techniques and advanced SQL skills required.
• Python or R proficiency preferred (Python, R, or other statistics platform).
