Job Description

This Big Data Analyst position requires a current TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a CI polygraph and is based onsite in Herndon, VA, with a customer site in Springfield, VA. The role supports mission partners by developing dataset evaluations, guiding data engineering approaches, and delivering SME data support to inform government decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and develop dataset evaluations and assessments to inform government decision making.
  • Shape data engineering approaches to improve analytic tradecraft within applications.
  • Identify and document gaps within the data corpus and analytical capabilities.
  • Collaborate with software developers to capture field requirements and provide feedback as changes are implemented into an application.
  • Work with end-users to provide SME data support for various data or application questions and requests.

Requirements

  • Must hold a current/active TS/SCI clearance and be willing and able to obtain a CI polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with equivalence between years of experience and degree as allowed.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a data analyst, data scientist, or a similar role.
  • Experience formulating a repeatable process for data evaluations and communicating findings to government officials.
  • Deep knowledge of technical data types from previous work, including Technical Telemetry Data and telecommunication protocol data types such as cellular and Wi-Fi.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with strong time-management abilities and the capacity to independently manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Experience operating in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience collaborating with Software Engineers to provide feedback and validate technical implementations for custom applications.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, SQL, Spark, PySpark, or equivalents.
  • Ability to work on-site in Herndon, VA, with potential on-site requirements in Springfield, VA as needed.

Our diverse experience in mission support and software development serves as a catalyst to address unique intelligence problems in support of special operations analysts and their ongoing activities.

Prototyping and frequent, iterative feedback are core to our delivery approach, anchored in the need to move quickly in support of missions.

Pay Transparency

The base pay for this position in the Washington, DC metropolitan area ranges from $118,000 to $196,000 annually. For other states, market-driven ranges are developed using geographic cost of labor data, so each location may have a distinct range.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to translate technical conclusions into clear, broad audiences
  • Experience conducting geospatial analysis including Activity-Based Intelligence or Pattern of Life analysis
  • Experience applying, improving, and documenting innovative analytic methodologies and keeping them current
  • Experience with Elasticsearch/Kibana
  • Experience in a customer-facing role
  • Familiarity with Gitlab and the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Experience working with Jupyter Notebooks or Apache Zepplin
  • Experience collaborating with other intelligence analysts and/or special operations customers
