Job Description

The Data Analytics Engineer role at General Motors focuses on creating and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards, conducting data analysis to support Global Supplier Quality and Development, and enabling data-driven decisions across APQP and supplier quality processes within a hybrid in-office/remote policy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, Python, and Oracle SQL Developer to enable complex data analysis for GM Global Supplier Quality and Development.
  • Support leadership in data driven decision making by building APQP oriented reports and tools.
  • Provide reporting on Component Readiness Valves (CRV), Production Part Approval (PPAP), and Run at Rate processes across the Global Vehicle, Powertrain, and Software Development Process (GxDP) to aid Supplier Quality Launch Engineers.
  • Lead integration of the Supplier Process Change Request (SPCR) into Supplier Quality value streams, ensuring stakeholders have timely access to data for change actions.
  • Assist Supplier Quality Engineers in analyzing Quality Performance Rating (QPR) metrics to identify trends and failure modes using custom KPIs.
  • Gather functional and technical requirements from Supplier Quality Engineers and Leadership to create reports with drill-down capabilities for users at different organizational levels.
  • Design, develop, validate, and publish reports in Power BI using DAX and Power Query M to collect, clean, and model data.
  • Build meaningful dashboards with visualizations such as histograms, bar charts, pie charts, and line plots to communicate insights for critical leadership decisions.
  • Maintain and update reports deployed to the Power BI Service, including scheduling data refreshes for reliability.
  • Coordinate cross-functional tasks to move reports from Pre-Production to Production servers via Change Requests.
  • Leverage Pivot Tables, Data Models, and formulas in Excel to support reporting needs.
  • Create Macros using VBA to automate data entry and report generation tasks.
  • Use Oracle SQL Developer and SQL queries to locate relevant data tables and fields for task goals.
  • Perform data wrangling to extract the requisite fields for reporting.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on Supplier Quality systems such as SPPS, SQMS, and SCMS in cross-functional initiatives.
  • Identify data quality issues and advise on changes and updates to data systems.
  • Adhere to hybrid work policy requiring 3 days in-office and 2 days remote; must be able to report to the local GM office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience as a Data Analyst or in a related role.
  • Two years of experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • One year of experience with Microsoft Power BI.
  • One year of experience with SQL and Oracle.
  • One year of experience with VBA macros.
  • One year of experience with Microsoft SharePoint.
