Job Description
Ookla is hiring an entry level Data Engineer (remote) to build data processing infrastructure that supports data science and analytics teams working with mobile and fixed internet performance data.
Responsibilities
- Build high volume data processing jobs across platforms including Redshift, Athena, Iceberg, Spark, and Airflow
- Debug queries and workflows, monitor job execution, and identify bottlenecks to improve system performance and efficiency
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to support data needs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1+ years of professional experience in data engineering
- Working knowledge of SQL and databases including MySQL, Redshift, and Athena
- Experience with data modeling
- Familiarity with workflow orchestrators such as Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect
- Experience working with Python
- Strong communication skills in person and via virtual mediums
- Background check required

Compensation
USD 85,000 - 125,000 per year.
