Job Description

Build the infrastructure behind governed, partner-ready data. On Ibotta’s Publisher Data Platform (PDP) team, you’ll help create a data marketplace and standards that enable secure sharing with publisher partners. This hybrid role in Denver, CO offers competitive pay and a benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, an Employee Stock Purchase Program, and a 401k match.

You’ll focus on practical data platform engineering: provisioning and operating a modern environment on Databricks on AWS, adding engineered controls that support data governance requirements, and enabling secure external data exchange using technologies such as Databricks Clean Rooms, AWS Clean Rooms, Delta Sharing, and Remote File Shares. You will also automate audit evidence collection to support InfoSec, legal, and third-party compliance reviews.

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain Terraform that provisions Ibotta’s data platform, primarily Databricks on AWS.
  • Implement robust engineered controls to help ensure compliance with data governance policies.
  • Develop and support secure external data exchange capabilities using Databricks Clean Rooms, AWS Clean Rooms, Delta Sharing, and Remote File Shares.
  • Automate audit evidence collection and reporting to support compliance reviews across InfoSec, legal, and third parties.
  • Identify and deliver improvements to platform operations, including automation of manual work, optimization of data delivery, and infrastructure design for reliability and performance.
  • Handle incident resolution, participate in workspace health monitoring, optimize cloud costs, and join an on-call rotation.
  • Use modern AI-assisted development while independently validating code, tests, system behavior, and correctness.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on data platform engineering, external data sharing integrations, or backend development.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, familiarity with distributed data processing patterns, and experience operating governed data environments.
  • Experience with Medallion Architecture (bronze/silver/gold) or similar layered data patterns, including building big data pipelines for transformation, metadata, dependency management, and workload orchestration.
  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional engineering teams and translating team needs into actionable technical requirements for prioritization.
  • Experience provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure with Terraform and maintaining reusable deployment modules on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and Databricks, with Databricks Asset Bundles (DABs) strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of tenant isolation, clean rooms, data privacy, and related compliance requirements, with a focus on secure-by-default systems.
