Data Engineer - Functional Area Analyst II
Job Description
Centurion Consulting Group is hiring a Data Engineer for onsite work in Alexandria, VA. This role supports DoD clients by delivering advanced data engineering, analytics, and visualization capabilities across both ad hoc and long-term needs for GS-13 to SES level problem solving.
The position is open to US Citizens with Top Secret clearance and SCI eligibility, and it emphasizes turning complex, large-scale datasets into clear outputs such as data tables and visualization dashboards.
What you’ll do
- Provide advanced data engineering, analytics, and visualization for DoD engagements, supporting complex problem sets from across the organization.
- Extract, transform, and load (ETL) large and complex data sets.
- Wire-frame and develop visualizations that support client understanding and decision-making.
- Manage and engineer large datasets and databases.
- Communicate key findings to clients through data analysis and clear presentation.
- Perform core data engineering tasks and conduct data analysis while translating complex issues and ideas into easy-to-understand language and visuals.
- Quickly learn new technical skillsets and develop understanding of relevant DoD domains.
Required skills and experience
- SQL and Python, plus Excel/PowerPoint, and experience with advanced analytics such as NLP, statistical modeling, predictive modeling, optimization, and machine learning.
- 4 years of experience in at least one area related to military or operations research (examples include current U.S. military operations, munitions, readiness, and deployment routines across air/space, ground, special operations, and maritime domains).
- 4 years of experience in at least one area of Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE).
- 4 years of experience in at least one area of Force / capability development.
- 4 years of experience in at least one area of Intelligence collection and analysis.
- Experience working with DoD stakeholders to collect, maintain, and refine complex datasets, with demonstrated ability interfacing with clients and expertise in Structured Query Language (SQL).
