Job Description
The Travelers Data Engineering team builds pipelines that add context to enterprise data and enable broad access.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and operationalize complex data solutions that support analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and business intelligence/insights
- Build and operationalize complex data solutions, resolve problems, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing and data quality approaches
- Analyze complex data sources to determine value and usage, and recommend what data to include in analytical processes
- Apply core data management competencies including data governance, data security, and data quality
- Collaborate within and across teams to support delivery and educate end users on complex data products and the analytic environment
- Perform data and system analysis, assessment, and resolution for complex defects and incidents, and correct as appropriate
- Test data movement, transformation code, and data components
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 8 years of relevant experience
- Proven experience building ETL pipelines using tools such as AWS and dbt or other ETL tools
- Understanding of AWS cloud services and data architecture patterns including S3, IAM, Lambda, and CloudWatch
- Experience with data modeling techniques such as star/snowflake schema and data warehouse design principles
- Nice to Have: Experience with Ab Initio for enterprise-scale ETL development
- Strong delivery skills, including selecting software design strategy and methodology; using automated tests, analysis, and feedback loops to ensure quality and production readiness before release; monitoring health of work efforts and adjacent systems
- Strong problem-solving approach using data and proofs of concept; reflective iteration to measure impact and optimize solutions
- Excellent communication skills to build business partnerships, explain technology concepts for business audiences, document initiatives clearly, and actively listen to others
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience

Compensation
- Salary range: $126,500.00 - $208,700.00 annually
- Base salary range is a nationwide market range; actual salary depends on scope, complexity, location, candidate skills, education, training, credentials, experience, and other employment conditions
