Job Description

The Data Scientist at IQ Sig will generate mission-relevant insights from complex, large-scale government datasets. This onsite role in Fort Belvoir, VA focuses on building analytic models, creating reproducible workflows, and explaining results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and evaluate analytic models aligned to mission-specific objectives
  • Explain primary findings clearly, applying methods from mathematics, statistics, and computer science
  • Create reproducible workflows while maintaining data integrity
  • Develop qualitative and quantitative methods to explore and assess datasets across different organizational states and varying levels of cleanliness
  • Organize, clean, and curate large datasets to support analysis
  • Translate complex technical work into accessible presentations for technical and non-technical audiences

Required Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship is required by the contract
  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with software development using Python in a Unix environment
  • Experience using the Linux command line
  • Practical knowledge in Python Machine Learning and data visualization
  • Practical knowledge of Data ETL, including data loading from SQL, CSV, JSON, Excel, and experience with Pandas and PySpark
  • Proficiency with statistical packages such as Python, R, STATA, SPSS, etc.
  • Experience using the Atlassian Tool Suite or other CI/CD pipeline practices
  • Experience developing with at least one of: Hadoop, Pig, MapReduce, or HDFS
  • Working knowledge of other object-oriented programming languages such as Java or C++
  • Working knowledge of front-end data visualization libraries (e.g., D3.js, Raphael.js, etc.)

Compensation & Location

  • Location: Fort Belvoir, VA (onsite)
  • Salary: USD 160,000 - 190,000 per year
