Data Scientist
Job Description
Canon U.S.A., Inc. is hiring a full-time Data Scientist for a hybrid role based in Melville, NY. The position focuses on gathering and preparing internal and external data, building and deploying predictive models, and delivering analytics that support executive decision-making across marketing and business units.
Role Overview
In this role, you will collect data from multiple internal and external sources, clean and integrate datasets, and apply programming, mathematical, statistical, and analytical methods to interpret results. The work includes analyzing sales, customer, channel, and product data to generate business insights and predictive outputs that inform executive choices.
The role supports business units and divisions with customer and market trend understanding, forecasting, and improvements to internal processes using a range of tools and techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze complex marketing and consumer behavior challenges using internal sources (CRM, web, sales) and external sources (market, ad platforms), then build, evaluate, and deploy predictive models such as attribution modeling, customer lifetime value, churn forecasting, and trend analysis.
- Develop optimized queries and manage complex datasets using BigQuery as a primary database. Clean, integrate, and automate pipelines for large and disparate marketing data streams.
- Create dynamic, self-serve marketing analytics dashboards in Tableau, turning model outputs into actionable, daily strategic insights for cross-functional teams.
- Support marketing adoption and understanding of Gemini and Gen AI by using Google Workspace Studio and NotebookLM to compile, synthesize, and centralize marketing intelligence and research.
- Design, configure, and showcase customized Gems (specialized AI bots) or other AI solutions to help marketing teams scale repeatable tasks such as copywriting, campaign analysis, and translation. Evaluate and deploy AI Agents to improve marketing operations.
- Lead operational migration to Google Workspace by automating cross-app marketing workflows that connect Sheets, Gmail, Docs, and Calendar using Google Apps Script.
- Gather and prepare large structured and unstructured datasets. Clean, transform, and preprocess data, address missing data and anomalies, and perform feature engineering.
- Forecast trends and outcomes, including churn and sales predictions, recommend actions based on model outputs, and identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. Support analysis questions such as explaining what occurred and why performance declined in a prior quarter.
- Work with Python, R, SQL, and machine learning frameworks including TensorFlow and Scikit-learn. Use big data technologies such as Spark and Hadoop when needed.
- Present complex findings through understandable visualizations and dashboards. Build recurring reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Looker, prioritizing clarity and usability for business users.
