Job Description
Garmin International, Inc. is seeking a full-time Data Scientist 2 to analyze complex data, build machine learning models, and deliver actionable insights in the Boulder/Louisville area.
Responsibilities
- Under guidance or minimal supervision, lead the collection, cleaning, and preprocessing of large datasets from diverse sources
- Perform advanced exploratory data analysis (EDA) to surface trends, patterns, and anomalies that guide modeling
- Design, implement, and improve predictive models using machine learning and statistical methods
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate data-driven findings into product and strategy recommendations
- Design and deploy data pipelines for annotation, training, and evaluation; automate workflows to improve efficiency
- Research, test, and compare emerging data science techniques, algorithms, and tools to strengthen model performance
- Support model integration into production systems by coordinating with functional and technical teams and monitoring post-deployment performance
- Assist with processes and tooling to maintain model performance, reliability, and data quality
- Create and present data visualizations and reports using advanced graphics and visualization tools
- Identify and leverage internal and external datasets to enable innovation and support business solutions
- Contribute to custom machine learning models and algorithms across diverse datasets
- Apply predictive modeling to improve user experiences and support revenue growth while enabling data-driven insights
- Help define project scope and business expectations using data-driven insights
- Provide mentorship and share best practices with junior team members under guidance from senior staff
- Participate in peer reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of team processes
- Maintain an ongoing learning focus on new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies
- Ensure data quality and adherence to governance standards, including compliance with data privacy and AI-related regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (per listed options), plus at least 1 year of relevant experience
- Experience with systems such as SQL, Python, or R
- Strong knowledge of machine learning frameworks, including Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch
- Demonstrated understanding of advanced descriptive and inferential statistics
- Expert-level knowledge of data analysis methods and tools
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and ability to work effectively with others
- Driven problem solver with demonstrated success solving difficult problems
- Consistent effectiveness in work documentation and organization

Desired Qualifications
- Experience with structured database management systems

- Exposure to distributed computing (e.g., Spark, Dask) and NoSQL databases
- Understanding of A/B testing and causal inference
- Experience working with unstructured data (text, images, audio, etc.)
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (Matplotlib, Seaborn)
Location and Salary
- Location: Boulder, CO 80301 (onsite)
- Salary: USD 107,100 - 130,900 per year
- Employment: Full-time
