Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate data analysis efforts across agency professionals and contractors to solve complex data management challenges.
  • Conduct statistical analyses and build predictive models using techniques from statistics, machine learning, and AI with tools such as R, Python, or SAS.
  • Collaborate with teams to define data products and standards, and programmatically prepare data while cleaning imperfect datasets.
  • Perform observational analyses using R, Python, or SQL to explore data, test hypotheses, forecast outcomes, and inform decisions.
  • Translate complex findings into clear, plain language for stakeholders.
  • Prepare written reports and deliver oral presentations, briefings, training sessions, and consultations.
  • Serve as a resource and leader for federal and contractor staff on implementing and managing large-scale, complex data analysis projects, including related risks.

Requirements

  • 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent in a field related to the position.
  • Provide technical direction in developing and refining studies that use statistical or machine learning techniques.
  • Experience performing ad hoc and planned data analyses.
  • Ability to transform large, messy data into analysis-ready formats using R, Python, SAS, or SQL.
  • Ability to prepare talking points, issue briefs, and project summaries for management.
  • In addition to the above, meet the individual occupational requirement (IOR): either a degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or a closely related field, or a combination of education and experience that meets the designated coursework and experience criteria. Transcripts are required to verify education.
