Data Scientist, eCommerce Analytics

Caterpillar is hiring a Data Scientist for its eCommerce Analytics team in Chicago, onsite, to apply analytics and machine learning for personalization and recommendations that drive parts and services growth.

Responsibilities

• Leverage machine learning, statistics, causal inference, and cutting edge GenAI approaches to model customer behavior and implement personalization and recommendation features that yield measurable business impact
• Build and deploy analytics powered solutions to optimize digital experiences, including recommendation engines and AI enabled assistants supporting conversational insights, targeting, and sales enablement use cases
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to translate problems into scalable, data driven and AI enabled solutions
• Own end to end components of analytics and data science initiatives, from exploratory analysis and modeling to shipping production ready insights or features
• Proactively research and apply new techniques, including GenAI approaches, to improve customer impact
• Present findings clearly to both technical and non technical audiences, influencing decisions through data driven storytelling

Requirements

• Analytical thinking with a proven ability to diagnose root causes and craft actionable alternative solutions; familiarity with analysis techniques and tools
• Experience in exploratory data analysis to extract patterns from complex datasets, including data cleaning, data mining, and writing or debugging queries across multiple tables or databases
• Strong understanding of machine learning principles, algorithms, and tooling; ability to develop, implement, and maintain ML driven systems for classification, regression, or optimization tasks
• Proficiency in data querying languages (SQL), scripting languages (Python), and statistical software (R)
• History of collaborating with cross functional teams and communicating insights effectively to influence business decisions

Summary Pay Range
