Responsibilities

• Assess business needs and user requirements to guide planning and design decisions.
• Collaborate with subject‑matter experts to develop statistical analyses and data analytics using appropriate data sources.
• Formulate and test hypotheses and methods to tackle key challenges in the assigned area.
• Serve as a technical expert in data science, operations research, master data management, and data analytics or visualization to improve policy, programs, and operations.
• Apply a broad set of analytical methods, including mathematical, statistical, and econometric techniques, to advise on likely outcomes of different actions.
• Create presentations that interpret statistical analyses and analytics for various audiences.
• Design interactive dashboards and data stories to promote exploration of complex issues.
• Communicate findings and limitations clearly, aligning conclusions with business needs and the agency mission.
• Prepare white papers, briefings, reports, and other required products.
• Provide leadership within the team and project contexts.
• Identify and apply advanced statistical and data analytics tools to meet business needs.
• Train staff in data analytic techniques and best practices.
• Uphold professional standards, ethics, and best practices in analytics and data communication.
• Analyze data trends to support mission goals and provide actionable recommendations.
• Plan and conduct analytic evaluations to validate findings or test hypotheses.

Requirements

Education

Basic requirement: A bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field, from an accredited program, or a major within those fields at the bachelor level.

Combination of education and experience: Courses totaling approximately 30 semester hours in the above disciplines, plus additional education or relevant experience to meet the role requirements.

Foreign education: If education was completed outside the United States, provide evidence that it is comparable to U.S. accredited programs. A Certificate of Foreign Equivalency must be included with the transcript to receive credit.
