Job Description
Based at Edwards AFB, the Air Force Test Center seeks a full-time Data Scientist to advance data analytics for engineering analysis and decision support. The role emphasizes applying analytical and statistical methods to complex studies, organizing data from multiple sources, and assisting senior analysts with analytical and simulation models to evaluate processes and program factors.
Responsibilities
- Apply diverse analytical and statistical theories and methods to plan, coordinate, and execute segments of complex studies.
- Gather, structure, and analyze data from various sources to solve problems using established data science techniques.
- Support senior analysts in developing and implementing analytical and simulation models to assess processes or program factors.
- Utilize innovative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and solve problems.
- Consolidate and process data from multiple sources, refining tools and techniques to meet objectives.
- Participate in special initiatives and research tasks designed to enhance knowledge of work processes and techniques.
- Present findings at scientific and technical meetings and prepare written communications.
- Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain technical proficiency through professional interactions.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Probationary period of 1 year or a 2-year trial period may apply depending on appointment type.
- Upon completing probation or the trial period, continued employment requires written certification that it serves the public interest.
- Must obtain and maintain Top-Secret security clearance.
- Subject to ongoing random drug testing.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a closely related field with at least 30 combined semester hours in these disciplines.
- Professional knowledge of a broad set of data science principles to analyze systems, processes, and operational problems.
- Familiarity with quantitative techniques for developing and applying models to resolve problems or propose alternatives.
- Ability to interpret data science rules and procedures and recommend solutions to senior analysts.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with effective collaboration with coworkers.

Salary
USD 47,490 to 161,313 per year.
Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a directly related field, with at least 30 combined semester hours of coursework in these disciplines.
