Job Description

The Financial & Data Analyst role at Hirsh Industries, LLC is an on-site position in West Des Moines, Iowa, reporting directly to the CFO. The work connects finance, pricing, budgeting, market research, and supply chain analytics, with a focus on automating AI-assisted reporting using an integrated data repository.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build revenue bridges that decompose performance into price, volume, and mix, run budget-versus-actual variance analysis, and help design KPI scorecards used to run the business.
  • Create product cost models and develop time-driven activity-based costing, including separating fixed from variable costs to understand operating leverage and true product and customer profitability.
  • Model how pricing changes affect margin and volume, supporting the commercial team in deciding where, when, and how much to adjust.
  • Support the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and scenario modeling with clear, documented assumptions.
  • Research market size, customer segments, and competitors to inform strategy and growth decisions.
  • Partner with the supply chain leader on analytics including inventory, service levels, and freight when additional analytical horsepower is needed.
  • Convert recurring manual reports into automated, AI-assisted reporting so teams spend time on judgment rather than copy-and-paste, while maintaining data security and reporting accuracy.
  • Present your analysis to the CFO and executive team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field.
  • 0–4 years of professional experience, with internships, co-ops, and serious academic or personal projects considered.
  • Coursework or experience in managerial or cost accounting, with understanding of the difference between reporting results and explaining them.
  • Strong Excel modeling skills and comfort working with large, imperfect datasets.
  • Curiosity about AI and analytics tools, including the desire to demonstrate how you have used them to build something.
  • Ability to translate quantitative findings into a clear narrative for stakeholders who do not live in spreadsheets.
  • Sound judgment and integrity with data: verify work, flag mismatches, and protect confidential information.
