Job Description
This onsite role supports Montgomery County Public Schools by conducting advanced financial and data analysis to inform budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning across the district. The Finance Data Analyst collaborates with multiple departments to ensure accurate financial information and actionable insights for organizational decision‑making.

Responsibilities
- Perform complex financial and data analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and decision making across the organization.
- Collect, interpret, and present financial data to identify trends, improve transparency, and enhance operational and strategic planning.
- Serve as a key resource for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information within multiple systems and for developing tools that strengthen fiscal management.
- Collaborate with departments including the Department of Human Resources and Talent Management, Payroll, and other Finance areas to resolve discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Associates degree preferred in Information Management Systems, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Three years of experience in data analysis, financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting, preferably in an educational or public sector setting.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets.
- Solid understanding of position management, salary budgeting, and full-time equivalent (FTE) control principles.
- Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, auditing, and financial reporting practices.
- Proficiency in data visualization and dashboard creation to clearly communicate position and financial data.
- Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to data integrity.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, HR, and Payroll functions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines during budget and staffing cycles.
- Considerable knowledge of office procedures, practices, and equipment.
- Knowledge of data synthesis techniques and technical applications that assist daily DMB operations.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills essential to department objectives.
- Knowledge of and ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System SSPGS.
- Special requirements: ability to work outside of normal duty hours and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
