Healthcare Data Analyst II
Job Description
In this hybrid role, the Healthcare Data Analyst II leads data and analytics work supporting Inland Empire Health Plan’s Clinical and Provider departments, programs, and quality initiatives. The position emphasizes database design, complex querying, statistical analysis, and clear presentation of results to leadership and other stakeholder groups.
Role Overview
Under the direction of the Quality Systems Leadership Team, the Healthcare Data Analyst II serves as a key technical resource for analysis and reporting. The role designs relational databases, performs advanced analysis including statistical modeling when appropriate, and communicates findings in audience-ready formats for multiple levels of staff, including executive leadership.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical lead for analysis and reporting efforts that support the Health Plan’s Clinical and Provider teams, programs, and quality activities.
- Contribute significantly to analyzing, interpreting, and translating complex Health Plan data, issues, trends, and relationships into strategies and actionable plans.
- Present analysis findings to executive team, leadership team, and other staff levels using formats that are easy to understand and appropriate to the audience.
- Apply analytical skills to determine solutions and resolve problems.
- Perform timely and accurate data mining, and develop new or modify existing reports to support consistent and congruent conclusions.
- Use statistical modeling methodologies when appropriate for Health Plan, provider, and member analysis.
- Develop and prepare reports for IEHP clinical and provider units using available analytics and data mining tools, including Microsoft Access and Microsoft PowerBI, SAS, SQL, and system-specific reporting tools or related reporting software.
- Evaluate report requests to confirm objectives, identify appropriate data extraction methodology (including data sources and criteria), and ensure delivered reports are accurate, timely, and correctly formatted.
- Maintain a clear understanding of available IEHP data sources and IEHP business operations to guide quality program activity development, including analysis and reporting.
- Manage assigned projects and communicate with QS leadership when deadlines may be at risk well in advance of due dates.
- Document analysis and reporting work according to established protocols to enable replication of results by an independent reviewer.
- Design and enhance databases supporting reporting and analysis needs, including testing, validation, and ongoing data integrity and accuracy maintenance across multiple databases.
- Demonstrate commitment to incorporating LEAN principles into daily work.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Three (3) years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with large data sets and relational database structures.
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution required.
- In lieu of a Master’s degree, a Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years of additional relevant work experience is required for this position.
- This additional experience is in addition to the minimum years listed in the Experience Requirements above.
- Understanding of statistical methods and experience applying statistical methods to answer data questions.
- Working knowledge of data analysis, study methodology, and preparing professional documents.
- Data analysis, data presentation, spreadsheet, and database capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Access, MS PowerBI, SAS, SQL, or other statistical applications is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
- Strong attention to detail and strong problem-solving capability.
- Ability to present reports and data analysis findings in group settings.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with time-sensitive deadlines is a must.

Work Model and Location
This position follows a hybrid work schedule: Mon & Fri remote, and Tues to Thurs onsite in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.
Compensation
Pay range: USD $91,249.60 to USD $120,910.40 per year (as listed: USD 91,249 - 120,910 per yearly).
