Job Description

Kenect is looking for a Junior Data Engineer to help power data that revenue teams can trust. In this onsite role in Pleasant Grove, UT, you will build ELT pipelines into BigQuery, transform data with dbt, and keep workflows healthy through Airflow, while translating reporting needs into dependable models for Power BI and other downstream tools.

You will also work close to product system owners to understand how data is structured, then produce clear documentation and business-friendly definitions so go-to-market teams can move faster with confidence.

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain ELT pipelines that move data from Salesforce, Outreach, Nooks, and other core systems into BigQuery, ensuring data is accurate and available when teams need it
  • Develop and maintain dbt models that transform raw source data into clean, documented, trustworthy tables
  • Collaborate with engineers who own product systems to understand source data structures and translate them into clear definitions for go-to-market teams
  • Own data discovery and documentation across systems, identifying where data lives, what fields mean, how entities relate, and which sources are authoritative
  • Monitor pipeline and orchestration health in Airflow, troubleshoot failures, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes
  • Partner with go-to-market teams to understand reporting needs and translate them into reliable data models supporting Power BI and other tools
  • Support the data infrastructure and evaluation pipelines behind production AI agent systems running on Modal
  • Work in Git-based development workflows using GitHub, CircleCI, and peer code review to deliver reliable, well-tested changes
  • Use AI coding assistants as part of your workflow to learn unfamiliar systems faster while maintaining strong engineering standards

What you bring

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related role
  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred; equivalent hands-on experience is also valued
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex joins and window functions, with the ability to write efficient queries for large datasets
  • Proficiency in Python for pipeline development and API integrations, plus comfort working in Git-based version control
  • Experience with a cloud data warehouse, with BigQuery preferred
  • Familiarity with dbt and an orchestrator such as Airflow preferred
  • Ability to work through unfamiliar data by asking the right questions and translating findings into clear business terms
  • Exposure to CRM and go-to-market systems such as Salesforce or Outreach is preferred
  • Documentation discipline: document what you build so others can understand, maintain, and extend it
  • A figure-it-out mindset for scoping problems, moving toward practical solutions, and building for performance and scale as the business grows

  • Python, SQL, GitHub, CircleCI
