Lead Data Engineer

Deloitte is hiring a Lead Data Engineer - Databricks to help deliver modern data and analytics solutions across client engagements. In this onsite role in Rosslyn, VA, you will lead technical delivery, translate requirements into scalable platform capabilities, and advise stakeholders on architecture and operating model considerations.

What you’ll do

• Lead the design and delivery of Databricks-based data and analytics solutions for client work
• Manage project teams and workstreams spanning requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, and deployment
• Convert business and technical requirements into scalable data pipelines, data models, and data platform capabilities
• Advise client stakeholders on architecture, implementation approaches, and operating model considerations for modern data platforms
• Oversee solution quality, drive issue resolution, track delivery progress, and support project economics and timeline management

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 6+ years of experience delivering data engineering, analytics, or cloud data platform solutions
• 3+ years with Databricks and Apache Spark
• 3+ years with Python and Structured Query Language (SQL)
• 2+ years leading project teams or workstreams
• Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on client and industry needs
• Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to build and sustain professional relationships
• Ability to lead projects or workstreams

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree
• Experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, or MLflow
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Experience designing batch and streaming data pipelines
• Experience with data governance, data quality, or platform security controls
• Experience supporting client presentations, proposals, or solution demonstrations

Compensation and location

• Location: Rosslyn, VA (onsite)
• Salary: USD 134,500 - 265,100 per year
