Lead Data Engineer - SAP HANA
Job Description
Dorman Products seeks a seasoned Lead Data Engineer to architect and optimize an enterprise data ecosystem centered on SAP HANA. This hybrid position in Colmar, PA blends hands-on development with leadership responsibilities, requiring onsite collaboration two days per week and offering a salary range of USD 102,900 to 153,100 annually.

Location and Schedule
Colmar, Pennsylvania, hybrid work arrangement with on-site presence required two days per week.
Responsibilities
- Design and deploy end-to-end data warehousing solutions using dimensional modeling approaches.
- Create and maintain enterprise data models across conceptual, logical, and physical layers to support analytics and operational reporting.
- Tune SAP HANA models and views including Calculation views, CDS, and standard SQL for performance and reusability.
- Establish and enforce modeling standards, naming conventions, and best practices across projects.
- Integrate data and semantic models with Microsoft Azure analytics services.
- Oversee the development and ongoing support of ETL processes and data integration solutions.
- Collaborate with ETL and reporting developers to design scalable, high-performance solutions.
- Assist with SLT replication setup to enable real-time data synchronization with SAP ECC.
- Manage and optimize cloud-based data platforms.
- Work with SAP administration teams on HANA upgrades, migrations, and environment refreshes.
- Utilize GitHub for version control and coordinating deployment of HANA objects.
- Identify and resolve database performance and scalability issues.
- Incorporate data quality tooling and maintain thorough data lineage and source-to-target mappings.
- Review technical designs to ensure alignment with architectural standards.
- Support QA efforts during testing activities.
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Advance BI infrastructure modernization by evaluating and adopting emerging technologies.
- Implement the strategic vision for data engineering and BI platforms.
- Partner with product managers, business analysts, and development teams to translate business requirements into robust data architectures.
- Communicate complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Participate in data governance and architecture review meetings to ensure consistency and compliance.
Requirements
- Experience with SAP HANA and other relational databases such as SQL Server.
- Proficiency in relational and dimensional modeling (ER models, star/snowflake schemas).
- Familiarity with ETL tools and frameworks such as SAP Data Services and SLT.
- Working knowledge of reporting and analytics tools such as SAP Business Objects, Qlik, and Power BI.
- Understanding of SAP ECC and SAP SCM/APO data structures and integration methods.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure analytics services including Data Fabric, Data Lake, Delta Lake, and Databricks.
- Experience with GitHub for version control.
- Familiarity with Jira for project tracking.

- Minimum 2 years of overall data engineering experience
