Job Description

GE Vernova seeks a Lead Data Scientist in Houston to standardize models, data architectures, and analytics across maintenance, repair and operations and the Global Supply Chain.

Responsibilities

  • Statistical modeling and advanced analytics: design, build, and validate models for MRO and supply chain challenges, covering regression, forecasting, hypothesis testing, and segmentation; translate results into actionable business steps.
  • Problem framing and heuristics: apply structured methods and practical heuristics to tackle complex, ambiguous problems, blending data-driven insights with practical problem solving.
  • Data foundations: establish and maintain standard data models, KPIs and reports across MRO shops, suppliers, and internal functions, handling complex data structures as needed.
  • Data pipelines: design, implement, and operate repeatable data pipelines from shop, ERP, planning, quality, and supply chain systems into governed analytics environments.
  • Analytics and reporting: develop dashboards for operations and management using Tableau, Power BI and Excel, ensuring visualizations clearly convey key insights and model outputs.
  • Data quality and standards: monitor data quality, drive root-cause fixes, and document models, metrics, pipelines and reports to keep solutions transparent and repeatable.
  • Continuous improvement and Lean: contribute data and insights to Lean and productivity initiatives, apply simple problem-solving tools, and track impact over time.
  • Stakeholder partnership: collaborate with shop leaders and Global Supply Chain teams to understand needs, prioritize work, and support strategic initiatives.
  • Team collaboration: work with commitment to goals, share knowledge, and help others upskill in analytics tools and methods.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or related quantitative field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least three years of experience in data science, data analytics or related roles, ideally within manufacturing, MRO or supply chain.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical analysis and modeling, including regression, hypothesis testing and time series or forecasting, using Python or R.
  • Experience working with complex data structures and large datasets, including event, transactional and relational data.
  • Strong SQL and relational database skills.
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining dashboards and reports using Tableau and/or Power BI, or strong Excel skills with a plan to upskill on these platforms.
  • Proven problem-solving ability, including structured analysis and the use of heuristics where appropriate.

  • Pay range for this US position: $92,400 to $153,900; geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% may apply in certain locations; final offer depends on experience and skills.
