Job Description

The Hive Machine Learning Engineer will be based onsite in Seattle, WA, focusing on prototyping cutting edge neural networks, training and deploying models into production, and building scalable data pipelines. The position carries an annual salary range of USD 120,000 to 180,000.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end to end production lifecycle for ML use cases, including designing and implementing neural networks, gathering and refining data, training and tuning models, deploying at scale with high throughput and uptime, and analyzing real world results to continuously improve accuracy and speed.
  • Collaborate closely with Backend and DevOps teams as well as internal data labeling services.
  • Apply OWASP Top 10 security practices to protect code from vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices for data maintenance and handling related to this role.
  • Adhere to information security policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Report actual or suspected security or policy violations to the appropriate authority.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science or a similar technical field, with substantial coursework in mathematics or statistics.
  • 1 to 2 years of industry machine learning experience.
  • Proven experience training and deploying a deep learning model (image, NLP, video, or audio) into production with measurable improvements over a baseline, in industry or via a personal project.
  • Strong experience with high level ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, Caffe, or Torch, and familiarity with additional frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Python, particularly as it relates to the aforementioned ML frameworks.
  • Ability to quickly code and prototype data pipelines using Python, Node, Bash, and Linux command-line tools, especially with large datasets containing millions of files.
  • Working knowledge of C++, Scala/Spark, SQL, Cassandra, Docker, or willingness to learn on the fly.
  • Up to date on the latest deep neural network research and architectures, including theory and practical implementation in the ML framework of choice.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
  • A strong team player with a do whatever it takes attitude.
