Job Description

Role context: The Product Manager/Product Owner for Data Science Storm Insights at E Source defines the product vision, builds the roadmap, and manages the backlog, translating client needs into tangible product opportunities while coordinating with engineers, data scientists, and designers in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

  • Establish the product vision for Storm Insights, including goals and success metrics
  • Create and sustain the product roadmap and release timeline
  • Perform market and competitive analysis to inform strategic direction
  • Convert feedback from the Client Success team into actionable product opportunities
  • Ensure alignment of product plans with overall company strategy and portfolio priorities
  • Own and maintain the Storm Insights backlog
  • Translate roadmap priorities and client use cases into epics, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and designers to plan and deliver each release
  • Lead agile ceremonies such as backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Validate delivered functionality and coordinate user acceptance testing with Client Success
  • Monitor delivery progress, dependencies, and risks, and report findings to stakeholders

Requirements

  • Ability to translate complex, ambiguous data and operational requirements into clear product direction
  • Strong familiarity with utility operational data (outages, weather, AMI, GIS, assets, SCADA) and how it informs storm readiness and restoration workflows
  • Knowledge of storm operations lifecycles including forecasting, staging, crew assignment, situational awareness, and restoration
  • Capacity to balance strategic objectives with day-to-day delivery
  • Collaborative approach working with internal client-facing teams and technical groups
  • Clear and proactive communication with both technical and business stakeholders
  • Curiosity, perseverance, and a bias for action in fast-paced, high-stakes environments
  • Four or more years of experience in software product management, product ownership, or business analysis
  • Proven track record delivering data-driven SaaS or analytics products from idea to MVP and continuous improvement
  • Hands-on experience writing user stories, managing backlogs, and working in agile delivery teams
  • Experience working with or for electric utilities is preferred, especially in storm operations, control center operations, or grid operations
  • Background in a technical discipline such as data science, engineering, or software development is a plus
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills

Salary range: USD 140,000 – 185,000 per year
