Research Data Analyst I - Medicine
Job Description
UC San Diego Health invites applications for a Research Data Analyst I in Medicine. This onsite opportunity in San Diego, CA offers a pay range of USD 33 - 57 per hour and a path to contribute to statistical analyses across small and large datasets within the Department of Medicine/Nephrology-Hypertension. You will assist with study design and power analysis, and help prepare manuscripts, grant proposals, and conference presentations.
You will collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and trainees while developing professional data analysis skills and expanding your knowledge of research data analysis concepts.
Responsibilities
- Conduct statistical analyses on both small and large datasets to support quality control, analysis preparation, and development of composite variables.
- Assist faculty, staff, students, and trainees with statistical analyses of simple to moderate complexity by contributing to study design, analysis plans, and interpretation of results.
- Evaluate statistical power to inform study design and recruitment goals.
- Aid in manuscript preparation, grant proposals, and the creation of conference presentations.
- Utilize statistical software including Python, R, STATA, and SAS.
- Support communications with the institutional review board and funding agencies for new project submissions and annual reports.
- Develop professional knowledge and skills in research data analysis.
- Handle small projects or project components with limited scope and complexity.
- Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Requirements
- Four years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related area.
- Develop knowledge of research functions and the ability to perform research analyses.
- Build proficiency in statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design to perform research analyses.
- Strong time management with the ability to drive assigned parts of projects to completion on schedule.
- Basic consultation and communication skills.
- Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
- Background check required.
