Senior Actuarial Data Scientist

Based in Waco, Texas, the Texas Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company is seeking a Senior Actuarial Data Scientist to lead advanced analytics initiatives under the Director of Pricing. This role blends actuarial insight with data science to uncover growth and profitability opportunities across the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced analytics techniques such as predictive modeling and machine learning to drive growth and profitability insights across the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies under the Director of Pricing.
• Identify, propose, and pursue analytics projects and analyses that advance corporate initiatives.
• Assemble large, complex datasets from both structured and unstructured sources to support analyses.
• Provide detailed insights to management on key issues based on data-driven findings.
• Use data driven insights to recommend opportunities for growth, competitiveness, and profitability.
• Communicate results of advanced analytics effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Develop and recommend new metrics to support informed decision making.
• Perform other duties as assigned and provide after-hours support if needed.
• Comply with the Company Driving and Safety policy by meeting Certified Fleet Operation requirements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Quantitative Economics, Statistics, or a related field, or several years of related experience.
• Ability to lead multiple projects while briefing senior leaders effectively.
• Strong problem solving abilities and analytical mindset.
• Willingness to learn and extend skills and to mentor others.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience in stochastic modeling, machine learning, and other advanced mathematical techniques.
• Experience in performing and implementing generalized linear models.
• Experience building structured and unstructured data sets together.
• Experience with SQL and Python, or other high-level programming languages.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
• Willing to travel as required.
• Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire that would not place the employee on probation or disqualify them from Certified Fleet Operator status under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.
