Job Description
The Senior Analytics Engineer will join MPI's IT department to design, develop, and support enterprise analytics and business intelligence solutions. This hybrid role is based in Los Angeles, CA, with a salary range of USD 125,000 to 145,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Create interactive Power BI datasets, dashboards, reports, and narratives that are intuitive for end users.
- Construct and sustain ETL/ELT pipelines leveraging SSIS, Alteryx, and Microsoft Fabric.
- Engineer and optimize complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures.
- Develop and manage Alteryx workflows and analytic applications.
- Deliver daily operational and production support for Power BI, Alteryx, and other BI solutions, including dashboards and reports.
- Ensure data quality, reliability, performance, and scalability across analytics platforms.
- Implement data governance, lineage, sensitivity labeling, and compliance controls via Microsoft Purview.
- Ensure HIPAA and other applicable regulatory compliance in data usage and access.
- Collaborate with business users and IT counterparts to translate requirements into effective analytics solutions.
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders via written, verbal, and formal presentations.
- Engage in design discussions and peer review sessions within the team.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of BI and data analytics trends, tools, and best practices.
Requirements
- At least seven years of hands-on experience as a SQL developer or data analyst.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, business administration, information systems/technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
- Extensive experience constructing and maintaining data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, including data modeling and transformation with Fabric Lakehouse/Warehouse.
- Experience documenting data models, reports, and pipeline logic, with solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
- Extensive Power BI experience, covering data preparation, data modeling, DAX, report optimization, and the development and maintenance of paginated reports via Power BI Report Builder for operational and detailed reporting needs.
- Proficient with Alteryx, including workflow development, optimization, and ongoing operational support.
- Experience maintaining and supporting SSIS packages.
- Experience administering and supporting Alteryx Server, including upgrades, MongoDB backups, and issue resolution.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and trend identification.
- Proven track record providing production support for BI and analytics solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels.
- Strong attendance and reliability, with willingness to work extended hours as needed.
- Ability to accept direction and constructive feedback from supervisors.
- Experience in regulated sectors such as insurance, healthcare, or financial services is preferred.
- Experience supporting self-service BI and governed analytics environments, with familiarity in modern data governance and compliance preferred.
