Senior Analytics Engineer - Finance (R6185)

SHIELD AI is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer - Finance (R6185) to help design and deliver trusted analytics products across Finance and go-to-market domains. This onsite role in San Diego, CA combines hands-on engineering on Databricks with cross-functional influence, partnering with Finance, Accounting, Program Finance, GTM, and Strategic Finance stakeholders to turn requirements into production-ready data capabilities.

What you’ll do

• Collaborate with Finance and GTM leaders to shape the analytics roadmap, prioritizing high-impact work and resolving competing requirements.
• Design and build governed datasets and semantic models to support reporting, planning, scenario analysis, and strategic decision-making.
• Establish modeling and metric standards across domains, applying judgment on architecture, data quality, and long-term maintainability.
• Build conversational analytics and AI-enabled workflows, including Databricks Genie, grounded in trusted business context.
• Leverage AI coding assistants to speed delivery and explore new capabilities, while maintaining rigorous validation and quality checks.
• Own business-facing reconciliation and acceptance for delivered analytics, working closely with data engineering to ensure reliable outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and Finance partners to strengthen technical practices and improve self-service analytics capabilities.

What you bring

• Substantial experience in analytics engineering, BI engineering, or financial data modeling, including advanced SQL and a track record of delivering production data products.
• Proven ability to lead ambiguous, cross-functional efforts from problem definition through adoption.
• Comfort with AI coding assistants and strong judgment when reviewing generated work.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted analytics, ideally Databricks Genie; experience with Snowflake Cortex or comparable tools is welcome.
• Sound architectural decision-making, disciplined development practices, and experience mentoring others and influencing senior stakeholders.

Compensation and benefits

• Salary range: USD 120,000 - 190,000 per year
• Full-time regular employee offer package: Pay within range listed + Bonus + Benefits + Equity
• Temporary employee offer package: Pay within range listed above + temporary benefits package (applicable after 60 days of employment)

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with Databricks, Python, semantic layers, or AI application development.
• Experience supporting FP&A, GTM, Strategic Finance, Accounting, or Program Finance.
• Familiarity with enterprise planning, financial controls, or high-growth business environments.
