Senior Associate, Data Engineer - Databricks
Job Description
Based onsite in Boise, Idaho, this Senior Associate, Data Engineer role resides in KPMG's Consulting practice, The Lighthouse. The position centers on Databricks based data solutions, cloud modernization initiatives, and data architectures for client engagements. The annual salary range is USD 94,430 to 202,745.
Responsibilities
- Assist with technical design and development activities and lead a small workstream implementing large‑scale data solutions in Databricks to support multiple use cases, including Delta Lake, reporting and analytics, and AI/ML.
- Support the design and development of technology and data architectures to enable client solutions, leveraging best practices for cloud data warehouse migrations.
- Capture and translate business and technical requirements, perform hypothesis‑driven consulting, and lead project management and client relationship development.
- Translate advanced business data, integration and analytics problems into technical approaches that yield actionable recommendations, across multiple, diverse domains; communicate results and educate others through the design and build of insightful visualizations, reports and presentations.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Databricks ecosystem and clearly articulate the value proposition of cloud modernization/transformation to a wide range of stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum three years of recent experience as a cloud data lake/warehouse architect, designer, developer, data scientist, or AI / ML engineer; Databricks certification is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college/university.
- Experience leading projects related to cloud modernization, data migration, and data warehousing on cloud platforms (Databricks); experience driving technical workshops with technical and business clients to derive value‑added services and implementations.
- Hands‑on knowledge of data security, messaging patterns, ELT, data wrangling and cloud computing; proficiency in data integration/EAI and DB technologies, analytics tools, programming languages or visualization platforms; experience designing solutions on cloud infrastructure and services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP; hands‑on experience with SQL and Apache Spark.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at various levels of responsibility; ability to prioritize, delegate, and foster high‑performance teamwork in a customer‑service oriented environment.
- Highly analytical and detail oriented; motivated with a strong sense of urgency; quick learner who builds skills to support the deployment and integration of Databricks‑based solutions.
