Job Description

The Senior Compensation Data Analyst role offers a hybrid work setup in San Diego, CA and centers on shaping compensation programs through data driven insights. You will partner with HR, Finance, and business leaders to drive market benchmarking, pay structure development, and clear reporting that informs key decisions. This W2 contract provides a competitive $53-$65 per hour and a defined six month term with the possibility of extension, all within a collaborative, metrics driven culture that values accuracy and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Help design salary bands, incentive programs, and pay guidelines
  • Maintain salary ranges to align with market data and internal equity
  • Advise on compensation decisions including offers, promotions, and adjustments
  • Analyze complex compensation data to identify trends and risks
  • Perform statistical analyses to inform pay decisions
  • Present insights through reports, dashboards, and presentations
  • Participate in compensation surveys and benchmarking activities
  • Map roles to market data and interpret results
  • Provide recommendations on pay competitiveness
  • Build and maintain dashboards using Power BI or Tableau
  • Create reporting tools for HR and leadership decision making
  • Ensure accuracy of compensation data across systems
  • Support data governance and reporting improvements
  • Collaborate with HR systems such as Workday for reporting and analysis
  • Assist compensation processes across multiple regions
  • Ensure alignment with local practices and regulations
  • Support job descriptions and job leveling structures
  • Ensure roles align with compensation frameworks

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of compensation or data analytics experience
  • Experience working with large datasets and compensation modeling
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with data visualization tools (Power BI or Tableau)
  • Familiarity with HR systems (e.g., Workday)
  • Experience with compensation surveys and market benchmarking
  • Technologies: Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Workday
