Senior Data Analyst
Job Description
Senior Data Analyst role at Graham Windham in Brooklyn, NY with primary remote work.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports, including data modeling, DAX calculations, and query optimization using Power Query (M)
- Own and manage Power BI workspace structure: workspace organization, dataset and dataflow management, row-level security, version control, and refresh scheduling
- Partner with IT and database colleagues to design and evolve the enterprise data model, ensuring source tables, relationships, and data elements support accurate, scalable reporting
- Run ad-hoc and recurring analyses using SQL, Power BI, Excel, and Power Query to answer business questions and evaluate program performance
- Document data definitions, table structures, dashboard logic, and query/report methodology to support consistency, auditability, and knowledge transfer
- Translate stakeholder needs into technical requirements and communicate analytical findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences via presentations and facilitated discussions
- Coach program staff to interpret dashboards and data, supporting broader data literacy across the organization
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related technical role
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret data from diverse sources and translate it into actionable insights
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining Power BI dashboards and data models, including DAX and Power Query
- Experience with data modeling concepts such as star schema and normalization in an enterprise data environment
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, Power Pivot)
- Strong proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries; experience with joins and subqueries is a plus
- Familiarity with ETL/data pipeline concepts and tools is a plus
- Strong communication skills, including presenting technical findings to non-technical stakeholders
- Dedication to the organization’s mission and a belief that children and families can succeed regardless of their circumstances
- Experience with nonprofit or human-service organizations is a plus
- Willingness to travel throughout NYC, as needed
