Job Description

Based in Clearwater, Florida, the Senior Data Engineer will design, maintain, and evolve ienjoy Home's data infrastructure, including production pipelines, cloud databases, and reporting. This on-site role combines hands-on engineering with leadership of a small team and coaching on the use of AI tools in daily workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and develop a two-person data team consisting of a Data Engineer and a Data Validation Analyst
  • Define technical direction and standards for pipeline design, data modeling, and data quality controls
  • Prioritize and allocate work across the team, balancing new development with operational reliability
  • Review the team's code, SQL, and validation outputs to ensure quality
  • Implement data quality and validation processes, ensuring issues are tracked and resolved at the source
  • Act as the escalation point for data issues, performing root-cause analysis and durable fixes
  • Train the team on effective use of AI tooling in daily workflows
  • Present technical status, risks, and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Manage and evolve production pipelines powering e-commerce order processing across the full data lifecycle, including API integration, ETL design, SQL modeling, orchestration, and reliability
  • Design, build, and optimize database schemas and data models in CloudSQL and BigQuery
  • Develop ETLs that connect external APIs and internal systems
  • Build and own API integrations to ingest data from sales channels and ERP into the internal database
  • Oversee GCP data infrastructure, including CloudSQL, BigQuery, and VM cron scheduling
  • Establish and maintain CI/CD and automation using GitHub Actions and YAML workflows
  • Manage channel and order integrations such as ingesting orders into CloudSQL, pushing orders to ERP, and tracking-number automation, with ongoing improvements
  • Enforce security best practices, including IAM authentication across databases and tooling
  • Connect data pipelines to Google Sheets, Excel, and the broader Google Workspace for reporting
  • Support and maintain reporting dashboards using Looker Studio and Power BI
  • Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues promptly, and implement lasting solutions

Requirements

  • 4+ years in data engineering or a closely related role, with experience owning production data pipelines
  • Proven hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP): CloudSQL, BigQuery, and VM cron job scheduling
  • Advanced SQL skills including schema design, data modeling, query optimization, and debugging
  • Proficient in Python for ETL, automation, and data processing (familiarity with Google Colab)
  • Experience building and maintaining API integrations
  • Strong familiarity with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and YAML-based CI/CD workflows
  • Working knowledge of Linux and shell scripting
  • Experience designing and optimizing relational database schemas (PostgreSQL/MySQL)
  • Comfortable using AI tools (Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, NotebookLM, etc.) as part of daily workflows
  • Experience integrating data with Google Sheets, Excel, Power Query, and Google Workspace
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Looker Studio, Power BI)
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to learn
  • Collaborative and adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced environment
  • Local to the Clearwater, FL area and able to work in the office
