Job Description

Join Fidelity Investments in Durham, NC on site as a Senior Data Engineer focused on Power BI within our Cyber Data Analytics team. You will drive impactful analytics and scalable data solutions that inform cybersecurity decisions, mentor teammates, and strengthen production systems. This role offers collaboration with executive stakeholders, exposure to a fast-moving cloud environment, and the chance to shape data-driven defense strategies.

What you will do

  • Strengthen data protection product areas by delivering scalable data solutions, including complex pipelines, migrations, and advanced data modeling.
  • Provide high-impact analytics to multiple executive leaders to support informed decision-making.
  • Identify new development opportunities within a scalable public cloud environment to enhance organizational capability.
  • Collaborate with product owners and business partners to translate broad requirements into concrete technical tasks.
  • Analyze and transform datasets to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and security throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Serve as a technical mentor and thought leader, offering guidance and innovative solutions to the broader team.
  • Incorporate automated testing and continuous validation into sprint cycles to maintain production reliability.
  • Develop end-to-end solutions using distributed platform design patterns and modern analytics technologies.
  • Support and enhance production systems with emphasis on performance, speed, and reliability.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience across Snowflake (including SnowSQL), Postgres, SQL Server, and Oracle.
  • Proven ability to build data pipelines using Python; knowledge of NiFi and dbt is a significant advantage.
  • Experience creating Power BI reports that transform data into compelling visuals.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure (S3, EC2, RDS, EKS, Batch, CloudFormation).
  • Deep understanding of data modeling principles, including 3NF and Star Schema models.
  • Experience with CI/CD workflows using Jenkins and GitHub for automated deployment.
  • Familiarity with workload scheduling and orchestration tools such as Control-M.
  • Proven ability to analyze data for quality, accuracy, consistency, and completeness, and to identify gaps and anomalies.
  • Ability to work independently in an Agile environment (Scrum and Kanban) and deliver technical stories to completion.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
