Job Description

ProQualityNetwork is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for an onsite contract role in Municipio de Juncos, PR. In this position, you will lead advanced analytics initiatives end-to-end, partnering with PR Operations stakeholders to deliver actionable insights in a highly regulated GMP environment.

You will take ownership of data science, machine learning, and AI projects from problem definition through implementation and results. The role emphasizes quality, governance, and clear communication, with collaboration across IS resources, technical teams, business partners, and external vendors to ensure delivery in line with regulatory, security, privacy, and data governance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence projects, from identifying business needs through implementation and delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business partners to translate business challenges into analytical solutions.
  • Independently identify opportunities, assess business needs, conduct SWOT analyses, recommend analytical approaches, obtain stakeholder approval, and execute projects with minimal supervision.
  • Develop high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models, and proof-of-concepts using Python and other applicable technologies.
  • Use SQL and other database query languages to extract, analyze, and manage complex datasets.
  • Create analytical methodologies aligned to specific business questions and operational challenges.
  • Apply advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to produce actionable business insights.
  • Work with large and complex datasets while ensuring data quality, integrity, security, and appropriate governance.
  • Present concepts, project progress, findings, and recommendations clearly to business stakeholders.
  • Build data-driven presentations and business stories using PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Coordinate with IS resources, technical teams, business partners, and external vendors to deliver analytical projects.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, security, privacy, and data governance requirements in a highly regulated GMP environment.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry developments in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics.

Requirements

  • Degree or strong professional background in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Physics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading analytical projects from initiation through completion.
  • Experience with databases, including relational databases, SQL, and graph databases.
  • Strong programming experience with Python, R, SAS, or Scala.
  • Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks such as scikit-learn, MLlib, Keras, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  • Ability to develop well-structured, reusable, and maintainable code.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database technologies.
  • Experience working with large datasets and distributed computing technologies such as Spark and Hive.
  • Strong understanding of system design, architecture, algorithms, data structures, and coding best practices.
  • Ability to translate business questions into analytical approaches and data-driven solutions.
  • Ability to select appropriate analytical tools and methodologies based on the business problem.
  • Strong logical reasoning, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to manage multiple complex datasets and projects.
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence business partners and technical resources to drive projects to completion.
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly and in an actionable way.
  • Experience in Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or another highly regulated industry is preferred.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
  • High-quality and compliance mindset for GMP environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Minitab and other statistical or analytical tools.
  • Passion for continuous learning and staying current with advanced analytics and AI developments.

Education & Experience

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree + 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree + 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Associate degree + 8 years of relevant experience.
  • High School Diploma/GED + 10 years of relevant experience.
