Job Description

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer (GenAIUX) at Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc., you will lead the development of generative and agentic AI UX platforms, focusing on Venue and Arena, and collaborate across product, design, and backend teams to deliver GenAI powered services for design generation, validation, and automation.

Overview

Location: Santa Clara, CA onsite. Salary: USD 193,300 - 261,500 per year. Experience: 5 years minimum of non-internship software development. Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent. The role centers on engineering leadership for GenAIUX platforms, driving design-driven AI services, and collaborating to deliver generative tooling for design tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Backend integration for AI systems: integrate with systems to manage asynchronous data flows from LLMs and other AI services.
  • Performance optimization: ensure maximum speed and responsiveness of AI driven interfaces, particularly with large datasets or real-time streaming output.
  • End-to-end systems ownership: design and own backend services, APIs, data storage, and frontend integration.
  • GenAI powered services development: build and evolve services that support design generation, validation, and automation workflows.
  • Technical vision: contribute to long-term technical vision and architecture decisions.
  • Scalable design balance: balance short-term delivery with scalable, maintainable system design.
  • Cross-team collaboration: work with internal teams to understand needs and translate into robust solutions.
  • Mentorship and hiring: contribute to hiring, mentor junior engineers, and raise the engineering bar.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming experience in at least one software language
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture for new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
  • Experience with emerging generative and agentic technologies
  • Experience in machine learning and data science

Help shape new Generative AIUX products for AWS customers. Our team builds Generative AIUX products that transform the way customers design. We focus on the future of design driven development and democratizing innovation for all builders. We deliver a shared platform across multiple products, working on AI powered tools that use Design Systems to build interfaces, and accelerate design, development, and validation workflows. The two products you will be working on are Venue and Arena; Venue is an AI powered internal prototyping tool that helps AWS builders create new features using the AWS Cloudscape Design system, while Arena is an external version that scales the offering to Amazon and external customers with a focus on 0-1 rapid prototyping. We seek a talented and passionate generative and agentic Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join and lead the development of cutting edge AIUX solutions. AIUX sits at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and User Experience, aiming to raise the bar for human UX while remaining compatible with agents. This includes designing for trust and transparency, letting users know when AI is involved, and providing control to edit or undo AI actions. The role enhances productivity, automates repetitive tasks, and creates more engaging, intuitive, and efficient user experiences. The ideal candidate brings expertise in generative and agentic AI and data analysis to create intelligent and transformative AI applications. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to build and enhance our generative AI platform, and have the opportunity to influence product direction and contribute to a culture of innovation and excellence.
