Job Description

Senior or Mid-Level Data Engineer with an active Top Secret clearance, based onsite in Huntsville, Alabama, focusing on ETL development, data migration initiatives, and AWS-based data pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Design and sustain ETL pipelines to process large-scale structured and unstructured data, covering extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Develop data migration solutions that bridge legacy systems to modern platforms using SQL, Java, and cloud-native tools.
  • Establish data integration frameworks that leverage AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, S3, RDS, Redshift, and Kinesis.
  • Create automation scripts in Python, Shell, or Bash to support deployment, data validation, and ongoing maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain and enhance data pipelines to support real-time streaming and batch processing.
  • Contribute to data quality initiatives, metadata management, and governance activities.
  • Engage in Agile/Scrum sprints, participating in design discussions, code reviews, testing, and documentation efforts.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues across on-premises and AWS environments.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required
  • Location: Huntsville, Alabama, 100% onsite
  • Employment type: Full-Time Permanent or 1099 Consultant
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience for a Mid-Level role, or 8+ years for a Senior role
  • Strong hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, Pentaho, AWS Glue, or custom Java ETL frameworks
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one major RDBMS (Oracle or PostgreSQL)
  • Experience with data migration projects and data quality validation
  • Proficient in Java or Python for data processing and automation
  • Experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS (RDS, S3, Lambda, Redshift, Glue)
  • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting
  • Experience in an Agile/Scrum development environment
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
