Job Description

QUARIQ is seeking a Senior OT Applications and Data Engineer to lead hands-on implementation, integration, and ongoing support of OT systems and data solutions within process manufacturing. This role blends technical execution with mentorship of junior engineers and close collaboration with AG, customers, and partners to drive digital manufacturing transformation. Based in Houston with a hybrid work setup, the position emphasizes practical engineering outcomes and cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • System Installation & Configuration: Deploy and configure ISA-95 Level 3 systems (SCADA, BES, Historian, MES, CMMS, LIMS) following AG best practices and industry standards, and ensure integration with Level 2 (control) and Level 4 (business) systems.
  • Real-Time Data Integration: Establish real-time data collection pipelines that move information from OT layers (PLC, SCADA) to enterprise systems (ERP, data lakes) with reliable data flow.
  • Contextualization & Data Flow: Implement solutions that contextualize real-time operational data to generate meaningful insights for decision-making.
  • Data Enablement: Configure and integrate manufacturing data hubs or Unified Namespace (UNS) to enable accessible data management across OT and IT environments.
  • Data Visualization and Analytics: Implement Operational Intelligence and Industry Solutions to address data-driven use cases.
  • System Support & Troubleshooting: Provide ongoing support for OT applications, diagnosing issues, and ensuring reliable system performance.
  • Collaboration with Teams: Partner with AG, customer, and partner OT architects, IT teams, and business units to ensure correct configurations and properly integrated data that meets operational needs.
  • Mentoring Junior Engineers: Guide and develop junior engineers, fostering technical growth, problem-solving skills, and adherence to best practices for system implementation and data integration.
  • Knowledge Management & Best Practices: Contribute to internal resources, documenting troubleshooting guides, best practices, and standardized procedures; collaborate to improve processes for system integration and data solutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in operational technology, industrial automation, digital manufacturing, or data engineering
  • 4-year degree in Engineering, IT, or a related field or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience in process manufacturing industries such as Pharma, Biotech, Food & Beverage, Chemical, or Energy
  • Hands-on experience with OT applications and systems including SCADA, DCS, Historians, MES, and CMMS
  • Hands-on experience with scripting/programming languages and relational SQL databases
  • Experience with real-time data integration, contextualization, and data flows
  • Strong problem-solving skills applied to processes and systems
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers, helping them develop technical skills
  • English proficiency at C1 or higher (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship

Work Environment

  • Location: Houston, TX (preferred)
  • Work model: Hybrid when based in Houston; remote for other locations
  • Travel: Up to 50% travel to company, customer, and event locations globally (75% North America, 25% elsewhere)
  • Physical requirements: PPE usage at customer sites; ability to lift up to 40 pounds; ability to walk, stand, and climb for extended periods; navigate indoor/outdoor environments and industrial structures with varying conditions
