Senior Principal Data Scientist, Advanced Forecasting

The Senior Principal Data Scientist, Advanced Forecasting is based onsite in Irvine, CA and contributes to building and operationalizing statistical forecasting models and scenario planning at Edwards Lifesciences. The role partners with Finance and Anaplan and helps establish an Advanced Forecasting Center of Excellence. Salary range: USD 145,000 - 205,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain data driven forecasting models across time-series, AI/ML, causal/driver-based approaches, and probabilistic scenarios (Monte Carlo) to project key financial and operational outcomes such as revenue, margin, opex, and cash flow.
• Serve as a strategic partner to the Anaplan planning program by defining data based forecasting requirements and ensuring outputs integrate cleanly into planning workflows.
• Drive last mile adoption through templates, dashboards, documentation, and stakeholder training so teams consistently use statistical outputs in planning and reviews.
• Communicate complex findings clearly through concise executive narratives, visuals, and data driven recommendations.
• Establish model testing and validation routines (back testing, error metrics, drift monitoring) and document assumptions, limitations, and controls.
• Collaborate with FP&A to align management forecasts with data driven insights from the statistical forecasts.
• Design scenario and sensitivity frameworks that quantify tradeoffs, risks, and uncertainty, translating outputs into actionable insights for Finance and business leaders.
• Stand up an Advanced Forecasting Center of Excellence, including modeling standards, reusable code and modules, data definitions, governance, and prioritization intake.
• Collaborate with Data and IT to improve pipelines, data quality and governance, and automation; ensure models are scalable, maintainable, and auditable.
• Fulfill other incidental duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Biostatistics.
• Minimum experience: 4 years.
• Experience requirement details: A minimum of ten years of experience including either industry or industry/education or equivalent work experience (OR eight years with a Masters OR four years with a PH.D).
