Sr. Data Analytics Engineer
Job Description
The Senior Data Analytics Engineer is a key member of Under Armour's Enterprise Data Management & Analytics team in Baltimore, MD. This role focuses on designing and implementing data analytics pipelines, developing robust data models, enabling automation for advanced analytics and AI, and guiding architectural decisions while mentoring engineers across squads.
Responsibilities
- Lead data model design, semantic layer definition, and scalable ELT architecture.
- Design and deliver advanced data models, automation workflows, and decision intelligence solutions.
- Build high quality analytical datasets and data structures optimized for visualization.
- Own CI/CD deployment pipelines and release management processes.
- Promote engineering best practices including testing, observability, modular modeling, and documentation.
- Optimize Snowflake warehouse performance, cost efficiency, RBAC, and semantic layer design.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes for complex data issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and elevate engineering maturity across squads.
- Facilitate stakeholder sessions to translate business requirements into scalable data products.
- Influence architectural decisions and the adoption of emerging technologies.
- Partner across EDMA, AI/Automation, Platform, and Governance teams.
- Provide on-call support and proactive monitoring of the EDMA platform to ensure seamless production operations across regions.
- Apply Generative AI tools to streamline development workflows and improve product quality.
- Contribute to the design of AI-enabled automation solutions.
Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree with about 3 years of relevant experience; Bachelor’s degree with about 5 years; or 9 years of relevant work experience without a degree.
- Expert SQL capabilities with mastery of complex data transformation patterns.
- Deep expertise in data modeling, ELT design, and enterprise data architecture.
- Proven ability to design scalable data applications, automation pipelines, and decision-intelligence solutions.
- 4+ years of experience with Tableau or equivalent analytics platforms.
- 5+ years of dbt experience (modular modeling, testing, documentation, governance) or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in CI/CD engineering best practices.
- 5+ years of Snowflake experience (virtual warehouse optimization, RBAC, cost/performance engineering, semantic layer design).
- Advanced Python for automation, orchestration, and engineering workflows.
- Working knowledge of automation tools (for example Elementum).
- Strong ability to influence architecture, mentor peers, and drive adoption of emerging technologies.
- Responsible use of Generative AI to accelerate development and improve quality.
- Experience with AI Coding Assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, Cortex Code.
- Skilled at translating technical depth into business context through clear communication.

Base Compensation
Base salary: USD 125,000.00 – 165,000.00 per year. Most new hires fall within this range, with potential for growth over time. Initial placement within the range reflects relevant knowledge and experience. Total rewards extend beyond base pay.
