Tech Lead Manager, Core Apps Data Scientist

Work on Core Apps data science as a senior leadership partner to product teams at Anthropic. In this hybrid role in New York, you’ll help shape product strategy for Claude Code and other Core Apps bets, set the data science agenda, and lead a small team of Product Data Scientists to ensure data informs high-stakes decisions. You’ll also build the measurement and experimentation foundation that supports rapid iteration as products grow.

What you’ll do

• Serve as a strategic thought partner to Core Apps product leads, contributing to product strategy, roadmap priorities, and major team bets
• Own the Core Apps data science agenda, deciding where the Product Data Science team can have the most impact and what to deprioritize
• Manage and develop a small team of Product Data Scientists, coaching them to move from answering questions to shaping decisions
• Identify the most important and ambiguous business questions, size the opportunities, and provide clear recommendations, including when you challenge the current direction
• Define how Core Apps measures success, establishing core metrics and measurement frameworks aligned across teams and leadership
• Set the standard for experimentation and causal inference across Core Apps, personally leading the highest-stakes analyses
• Translate complex analyses into clear narratives that drive decisions with senior leadership and cross-functional partners
• Establish foundational data practices and shape the analytics infrastructure Core Apps needs for rapid iteration and decision-making

What you bring

• Extensive data science experience, including leading analytics for a product area at significant scale
• 3+ years managing data science teams, including setting direction and developing senior data scientists
• Proven partnership with senior product and business leaders, including examples of changing a roadmap or influencing high-stakes decisions
• Strong product sense and business judgment, with the ability to frame the right question and take a position with incomplete information
• Deep expertise in experimental design, causal inference, and statistical modeling at high scale, with fluency in Python and SQL to stay hands-on and guide technical work
• Clear communication in writing and presentations, including to executive audiences
• Bias for action and comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where you create clarity and drive progress
• Care about building helpful, honest, and harmless AI
• Experience with AI/ML products, large language models, or developer tools in the AI/ML ecosystem

Role details

Location: New York, NY (hybrid). Currently expected to be in an office at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more.

Compensation: USD 460,000 per year.

Minimum experience: 3 years.

Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
