Job Description

The Analytics Engineer II role centers on owning analytics artifacts across domains, building semantic layers and metric stores, and enabling federated domain adoption with governance and data quality in mind.

Responsibilities

  • Model analytically ready datasets and design or maintain semantic layers, metrics stores, or data marts; apply analytics engineering best practices (version control, CI/CD, and environment management); partner with BI analysts, data scientists, and domain stakeholders to operationalize analytics products; ensure alignment with governance and data quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years in analytics or data roles with demonstrated delivery of analytics artifacts; hands-on experience with dbt or similar analytics engineering tools; practical usage of CI/CD and workflow orchestration.
  • 3+ years of advanced SQL and experience with dbt or equivalent transformation frameworks; familiarity with metrics store concepts and basics of knowledge graphs or ontologies for semantic enrichment where applicable.
  • 3+ years implementing CI/CD for analytics, automated testing, environment promotion, and metadata/catalog integration.
  • 3+ years with at least one cloud data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, or MS Fabric) and BI tool optimization experience (Power BI or Tableau performance tuning).
  • 1+ year exposure to machine learning, data science, or AI concepts (preferred).
  • 1+ year experience in healthcare or another regulated industry (preferred).
  • Design and implement semantic layer components such as metrics store objects, analytical models, and data marts to support domain KPIs and BI consumption.
  • Implement automated testing and CI/CD pipelines, with deployment promotions for analytics products; own environment management for domain artifacts.
  • Lead data quality monitoring for analytics products; collaborate with data stewards to remediate issues; maintain metadata and lineage in the data catalog.
  • Optimize query and semantic performance for BI tools; apply best practices to reduce dashboard sprawl and metric inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational stakeholders to translate workflows and EHR/ERP data into repeatable analytics products, such as procedure-level cost and outcomes dashboards and inventory visibility reports.
  • Engage across domain areas (clinical, financial, or supply chain); facilitate stakeholders and solve problems effectively.
  • Translate business KPIs into reproducible metrics-as-code and communicate technical concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders; mentor junior engineers.
  • Work with EHR/clinical data and supply chain/ERP data sources; follow interoperability expectations (FHIR/HL7 awareness) for clinical integrations; support clinical analytics and supply-chain analytics as relevant.
  • Maintain version control of analytics content, separate dev/test/prod environments, workflow orchestration, metadata/cataloging, and performance testing to improve uptime, adoption, code quality and defect resolution.
  • Adhere to organizational data governance, privacy and security requirements including HIPAA-relevant controls; collaborate with governance or ARB when analytics or AI artifacts are used in clinical or high-risk contexts.
