Associate Data Analyst

The Associate Data Analyst role in the Research & Planning Division of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute supports agency decision-making by turning data into clear research outputs. This is an onsite position in Indianapolis, IN, partnering closely with division directors and internal end users to clarify needs, troubleshoot issues, and deliver reports and visualizations. What You’ll Do

• Conduct research on agency-relevant topics, analyze and interpret data, and prepare and present findings through reports and data visualizations.
• Support development of division priorities and funding decisions by evaluating funded programs.
• Serve as a technical consultant to staff by clarifying procedures, providing references, and troubleshooting technical issues.
• Act as a liaison between the agency and other state agencies.
• Coordinate with internal teams and end users to resolve reported issues using a ticketing system.
• Analyze data needs and requirements for existing and proposed systems.
• Support agency operations using specialty software, including data loading/uploading, mass editing of datasets, validity checks, queries/scripts, and data interpretation.
• Prepare results for use in custom reports, charts, and maps.
• Perform other related duties as required.

What You’ll Need

• Preferred: Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Policy, Statistics, or related field; or Bachelor’s degree and comparable work experience.
• Knowledge of computer software, including the Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to comprehend, analyze, interpret, and correlate technical material and make recommendations for implementation.
• Highly organized, analytical, accurate, and detail oriented.
• Knowledge of research methodologies and techniques, including statistical analysis and quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Knowledge of relational databases.
• Skills with standard reference and information sources, electronic search logic, and assessing technical and trade documents, including peer-reviewed articles, research reports, and data reports.
• Strong time management, ability to multi-task, and capacity to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
