Job Description

The Compliance Data Scientist at Barclays in New York applies data analytics, statistics, and machine learning to support Conduct Risk, AML, and Market Surveillance, developing data pipelines, models, dashboards, and actionable insights for risk management.

Salary

USD 140,000 - 155,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Identify, gather, and extract data from diverse internal and external sources.
  • Clean, wrangle, and transform data to ensure quality and suitability for analysis.
  • Build and maintain efficient data pipelines for automated data acquisition and processing.
  • Design and deploy statistical and machine learning models to analyze patterns, trends, and relationships in data.
  • Develop and implement predictive models to forecast outcomes and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to uncover data-driven opportunities and add value through data science.

What will you be doing?

  • Apply mathematics and statistics to analyze data for identifying, measuring, and preventing Conduct Risk.
  • Support Financial Crime AML efforts from Transaction Monitoring optimization through non-linear optimization to bespoke reports and dashboards that identify unusual customer behavior.
  • Generate complex insights and actionable management information using Barclays automated dashboard tools, enhancing AML effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Barclays Technology teams to improve data quality and structure for Conduct Risk analytics.
  • Develop innovative methods to extract additional insights from existing data using graph databases and Network Link Analytics approaches.
  • Engage with stakeholders to identify key problems and needs, staying current with industry developments via research and peer-group meetings.
  • Utilize data visualization tools to produce performance metrics for Transaction Monitoring processes.
  • Employ data analytics for root cause analysis, diagnostics, and simulations.
  • Produce performance metrics for Market Surveillance processes to identify Market Abuse risk.
  • Use analytics to spot trends that indicate broader Conduct Risk, including Financial Crime and Market Abuse considerations.

To apply innovative data analytics and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from the bank's data reserves, guiding strategic decision-making, improving operational efficiency, and driving innovation across the organization.
