Data Analyst
Job Description
NYC DOT is seeking a Data Analyst to join the Planning and Policy team within Transit Development. This hybrid role in Manhattan will support analysis work for the Transit Signal Priority (TSP) program and related transit priority initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support data analysis efforts for the Unit’s Transit Signal Priority (TSP) program.
- Work with internal and external agency staff to help develop future priority corridors.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing TSP corridors.
- Use data exploration and analysis to identify opportunities to improve TSP effectiveness.
- Assist with additional data-driven assignments related to Real Time Passenger Information, automated enforcement, bus shelters, bus stops, and other related prioritization analyses.
- Serve as a resource and point of contact for public transit matters, including acting as one of the key points of contact with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).
Minimum Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time experience in city planning; or a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to this.
- Graduate education in relevant fields (city planning, urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, transportation engineering, public administration, economic development, or related fields) may substitute for experience based on 30 graduate semester credits for one year of experience; a baccalaureate degree is still required.
- To be considered: candidates must be serving permanently in the title of City Planner, or be reachable on the open competitive civil service list for Exam No. 5045.

Preferred Skills
- Ability to conduct quantitative analysis, preferably using public transit data, and/or having design aptitude.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including experience delivering presentations.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
- Experience with CAD, Synchro, and/or GIS is desirable.
Compensation and Location
- Location: Manhattan, NY (hybrid)
- Salary: USD 64,157 to 92,657 per year
Experience required: 2 years. Education required: baccalaureate degree.

Residency Requirement
- General rule: New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
