Job Description

Irving Tissue offers an on-site Data Analyst/Business Intelligence Co-op in Fort Edward, NY. The role pays USD 21-28 per hour and supports continuous improvement initiatives through hands-on data analytics, BI, and SQL work across cross-functional teams. You will build and update Power BI dashboards to drive equipment reliability and uptime, gain practical experience with Power BI, Power Apps, and Microsoft Azure, and interact with Operators and vendors. You will work with SQL, DAX, Power Query M, and REST APIs, and gain exposure to several first Quartile Assets in the Tissue Manufacturing business. The program emphasizes training, growth opportunities within Irving Tissue and the broader J.D. Irving network, and may include housing or relocation support where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Continuous Improvement team to advance data-driven business initiatives
  • Support on-site Continuous Improvement projects
  • Build and refresh Power BI dashboards to enhance equipment reliability and uptime
  • Apply hands-on experience in Data Analytics, Data Engineering, and Business Intelligence using Power BI, Power Apps, and Microsoft Azure
  • Utilize SQL, DAX, Power Query M, and REST APIs
  • Work with cross-functional teams including quality, safety, and paper making to drive department initiatives
  • Coordinate with vendors delivering high-level services in these areas
  • Interact with Operators who run our assets
  • Exposure to several first Quartile Assets in the Tissue Manufacturing business

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year Computer Science, Data Engineering, Systems and Computer Engineering or related degree program with at least two years completed
  • Fluent in Power BI and the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Comfortable working with large data sets
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to groups
  • Highly organized with focus on detail, confidentiality, prioritization, and meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of data analysis and SQL databases
  • Passion for solving problems using technology
  • Self-starter who can conceptualize, design, and develop solutions for a broad range of problems
