Job Description
Entry-level Data Analyst I joining the Business Intelligence & Strategy team at Hays Electrical Services; develops reports, connects to data sources including Databricks, and delivers insights to multiple business functions.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards for designated business units
- Connect to and query data sources including Databricks and other enterprise platforms
- Process incoming reporting requests independently, managing timelines and ensuring accuracy
- Maintain current dashboards by updating data connections, refreshing models, and fixing broken visuals
- Verify data accuracy prior to publishing or distributing reports
- Adhere to established templates, naming conventions, and team standards
- Extract, cleanse, and shape data from multiple sources for reporting readiness
- Identify data quality issues and escalate to the appropriate team member
- Utilize Power Query to transform and prepare data for reporting use
- Follow documented SOPs for recurring data workflows and help document repository content
- Elicit requirements for assigned reporting requests from stakeholders
- Present reports and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Provide proactive updates on task status, blockers, and delivery timelines
- Escalate complex, multi-layered requests to senior analysts with proper context
- Support senior analysts on larger projects as assigned, including data preparation, validation, and report components
- Adhere to current process documentation and flag outdated or missing steps
- Contribute to team knowledge by documenting recurring processes and report logic
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field
- 0–2 years of professional experience in data, analytics, or reporting roles (internships and co-ops count)
- Proficiency in Power BI, including connecting to data sources, building data models, and developing reports and dashboards independently
- Demonstrated experience delivering a report or dashboard that surfaced meaningful KPIs or insights for a stakeholder
- Ability to manage an assigned workload, track multiple requests, and deliver on time
- Clear communicator across technical and non-technical audiences
- Foundational understanding of data modeling concepts
