Data Analyst I
Job Description
Support the City of Tucson Police Department by assisting with business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis under supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assist with creating and maintaining dashboards and reporting solutions on digital visualization platforms to support operational efficiency and departmental reporting.
- Research and resolve issues related to programming and scripting languages, data visualization platforms, and/or statistical methodologies to help ensure accuracy and access for internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify department-level business intelligence, reporting, and data analytics needs by converting data into actionable information and knowledge.
- Assist with and perform limited operational tasks using relational databases, geographic information systems software, and/or statistical programs to provide critical information to stakeholders.
- Support departmental operations and decision-making through analytical insights, including gathering and analyzing data from multiple sources and applying established methods and standard practices.
- Perform other assigned duties and tasks.
Requirements
- Associate degree
- Under one (1) year of relevant experience
- Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Statistics or Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or a relevant applied analytical field
- Demonstrated proficiency in coding languages and/or data visualization platforms

- Top 40 applicants from the application/resume review will be invited to a screening panel interview to determine the Eligibility List for Data Analyst I.

- Contingent offers require successful completion of an extensive background investigation, including local, state, and national criminal fingerprint checks.
