Data Analyst II
Job Description
Full-time Data Analyst role focused on analysis, dashboards, and data-driven support for complex legal and business questions.
Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, integrate, analyze, and validate large and complex datasets from multiple sources.
- Use SQL and Python to query, transform, reconcile, and analyze data.
- Create repeatable analytical workflows to support ongoing reporting and investigations.
- Design and build Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to communicate key findings, trends, and metrics.
- Collaborate with attorneys and the data analytics team to translate legal, business, and operational questions into analytical approaches.
- Develop analytical methodologies and models to evaluate exposure, damages, trends, patterns, and other litigation-relevant issues.
- Investigate data anomalies, identify gaps or limitations, and reconcile discrepancies across datasets.
- Analyze employment-related data, including timekeeping, payroll, HRIS, scheduling, and related operational systems for employment matters.
- Support analyses related to class certification, damages, sampling, pay practices, timekeeping practices, and other litigation issues as needed.
- Develop clear, defensible approaches for working with incomplete, inconsistent, or complex datasets, including documenting assumptions, processes, and findings.
- Find opportunities to improve, automate, and standardize existing analytical and reporting processes.
- Produce clear written summaries, presentations, dashboards, and deliverables that support attorney and client decision-making.
- Manage analytical work across multiple matters, balancing deadlines and priorities while applying independent judgment on approach and execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or analytical discipline (data analytics, data science, statistics, economics, computer science, mathematics, or similar).
- 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, including using both to manipulate, analyze, and validate complex datasets.
- Strong proficiency with Power BI or comparable BI and visualization tools; Power BI experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with relational databases and combining information from multiple data sources.
- Ability to work independently with large, complex, incomplete, or imperfect datasets and determine appropriate approaches for data limitations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including converting open-ended questions into structured, defensible analytical approaches.
- Ability to identify patterns, anomalies, inconsistencies, and other meaningful findings in complex datasets.
- Familiarity with AI and generative AI, including thoughtful incorporation into analytical and workflow automation while evaluating outputs for accuracy and reliability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical findings to non-technical audiences.
- Excellent organizational and project-management skills to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and shifting priorities.
- Professionalism, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment, especially with confidential or sensitive information.

Preferred Prior Experience
- Prior experience in a law firm, litigation support, consulting, or other professional-services environment is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with employment data or wage and hour concepts (payroll, timekeeping, overtime, meal/rest periods, regular rate, rounding, and related issues) is helpful but not required.
